Who loves duck hunting?
This article may seem one for the professional hunters, but let me say it isn’t. There are people who love hunting as a hobby and they so their best to learn more, to stick to the basic hunting rules and invest their patience and money in this kind of activity. It is a very relaxing hobby, many of the hunters say, but it can involve some costs and sometimes a lot of disappointment. As in the case of the ones who love going fishing, this hobby can bring you a lot of satisfaction but also a lot of disappointments too. But I think when you love a thing you take it with all the good and bad things, with all the costs and all the disadvantages, keeping in mind only the good times and great results.
When you think of giving an answer to the question in our title you should think also to the economic status or level of a country. For example, in some countries where the economy is at low levels and the law system in the hunting area is not very clear, the answer will be: who can afford it? It might seem strange for an American to talk about affordability when it comes to duck hunting, but I can assure you that for Eastern European countries this hobby is very expensive.
Let’s see the main difference and you might gain an idea how this works. First of all are the laws. If you love to go duck hunting in Romania for example, you should receive first of all a license for the gun. If in USA getting a gun license is as simple as going to the market, in Romania you have to take a lot of tests at the police station and wait a longer period to be declared apt of carrying a gun. This procedure costs money and time. Another thing is that in Romania you have to be part of an exclusivist hunting group so you can have the right to go hunting, which is very expensive. Then it is the financial problem. If in USA you buy a shot gun with 400 $ and that’s not big deal, in Romania that amount is for many so much more than their monthly salary. And of course you need a lot of other tools so you can go hunting ducks, like decoys and boats and special noise devisors to call them. Also you need special clothes so you can hide and not scary the ducks. Last but not the least is important to have access or receive an access passport to the special area where you can find ducks. This can cost you even more.
As you may see for some of the people going duck hunting can be a problem even if it is their hobby. In some countries only the ones who can afford it can love it. But if you are not one of the ones above you can enjoy the day on the lake, practicing your duck calls, learning new techniques of hiding and finding a perfect spot and of growing your patience.
